Following consultation work carried out by Bus Users UK in Conwy Valley, Transport for Wales has announced an extension to the Fflecsi zone to Dolwyddelan to help reduce the impact of service cuts in the area.
Bus Users ran three drop-in sessions in areas hit by the withdrawal of Llew Jones Coaches’ T19 services Blaenau Ffestiniog to Llandudno serving the Conwy Valley in Gwynedd and Conwy. The results highlighted the devastating impact of losing such vital services on local communities and residents. In its report, Bus Users called for the T19 service either to be replaced or for the Fflecsi zone to be extended to help residents connect with other bus services.
Responding to the news Barclay Davies, Bus Users UK Director for Wales said: “While the extension of the Fflecsi zone is extremely welcome, transport poverty remains a huge challenge for communities not just in this region but across Wales.
“We will continue to call for a long-term funding commitment from Welsh Government to ensure people have access to reliable, affordable and accessible transport.”
