Bus Users UK is looking for new Trustees with the energy and drive to make public transport accessible to everyone.
The charity campaigns for inclusive, accessible transport and handles complaints, promotes active and sustainable travel and strives to improve bus and coach services for everyone. Its Trustees are pivotal in guiding this work and they are now seeking new members to broaden and strengthen their Board through their skills, knowledge, diversity and lived experience.
They are particularly keen to hear from under-represented groups including people from Black and Asian backgrounds, disabled people and LGBTQ+ communities. They are also looking for experience in fundraising, voluntary sector governance, and transport planning and policy in local or central government.
Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK explained: “Bus passengers are uniquely diverse among transport users and span every location, profession, social group and community. So it’s crucial that our staff and board are equally diverse in order to understand and represent this broad spectrum of interests and transport needs.
“Above all we are looking for candidates who share our values and will make a positive contribution to our work through sound judgement, creative thinking and an inclusive approach.”
The role of Trustee of Bus Users is unpaid with expenses provided for travel and other agreed costs. Interested candidates should email chair@bususers.org or call Bus Users on 0300 111 0001 for more information.
