Deborah Biscoe from Bus Users in Scotland joined Disability Equality Scotland, Clydesdale Bank, RBS and Santander to look at the impact of bank closures in rural areas on people with disabilities.
The event highlighted a number of initiatives to help people access banking services, including online banking and mobile banking. With timetables for mobile branches often clashing with local bus services, however, Deborah called for greater consultation between banks and operators to ensure these services are accessible to bus users.
