The tram-like Aberdeen Rapid Transit vehicle is part of a project exploring options for high-quality, mass transport for the North East. The aim is to improve connectivity between key communities and support regional net zero ambitions. According to Greig, it also has the potential to improve transport accessibility and the overall passenger experience:

“The Aberdeen Rapid Transport demonstration vehicle offers an opportunity to showcase how innovative public transport can improve connectivity, accessibility and the passenger experience. While the technology is impressive, what matters most to passengers is whether it delivers reliable, frequent, and easy-to-use journeys.

“We welcome initiatives that explore new ways to make public transport more attractive and inclusive, and we look forward to seeing how lessons from this demonstration can benefit bus users across Aberdeen and beyond.”
