Bus Users UK is calling on disabled people to share their experiences of bus travel as part of a ground-breaking research project designed to improve transport accessibility and inclusion.
The charity has joined forces with Motability, social research agency Revealing Reality and microeconomics consultancy Frontier Economics to capture the real, lived travel experiences of people with visible and non-visible disabilities.
Participants will be asked to log their bus journeys across the period of a month and to record their experiences, both positive and negative. The outcomes will be used to inform and shape bus accessibility and inclusion practice across the UK.
Dawn Badminton-Capps, Bus Users UK Director for England said: “Buses are a lifeline enabling people to lead full and active lives through education, work, healthcare and leisure. This is a unique opportunity for anyone living with a disability to bring about real change and ensure that bus services are genuinely accessible and inclusive.â€

Motability is a national charity with the purpose of enhancing the lives of disabled people with transportation solutions and supporting future growth. The charity has oversight of the Motability Scheme, which enables a disabled person to use all or part of their higher rate mobility allowance to pay for the lease of a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. The charity also provides grants directly to disabled beneficiaries, other charities and organisations, and is investing steadily in its innovation activities.
Revealing Reality is an independent social research agency, working with regulators, government and charities to provide insight to inform decision making, policy recommendations and service design.
