New report from the WI looks at the impact of bus cuts on rural areas

A new report examines the impact rural bus cuts have had particularly on mental health, isolation and social exclusion, and sets out recommendations for future action.

A New Route for Bus Services, published by the WI, found that 46% of people have had access to basic services negatively impacted by bus cuts,19% have experienced an impact on their mental health, and 72% have increased their dependence on car use.

The report is part of the WI’s Get on Board Campaign launched last year, which calls for an increase in bus subsidies and partnership working to build services.
