Charitable status in Scotland for Bus Users

Bus Users UK has officially become a registered charity under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.

Already a registered charity in England and Wales, Bus Users had to meet the separate test of the Scottish Charity Regulator in order to operate as a registered charity in Scotland. Under the test, an organisation has to show that it has only charitable purposes and that it provides public benefit in achieving those purposes.

Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK, welcomed the decision: “Charitable status ensures that we can continue our work in Scotland to bring people and communities together through socially inclusive transport.”

Bus Users UK Charitable Trust Ltd has been entered on the Scottish Charity Register as charity number SC049144.
