Government has announced £5 billion of new funding to transform cycle links and bus services with simpler fares, thousands of new buses, improved routes and higher frequencies.
The move has been welcomed by Bus Users Chief Executive Claire Walters: “Today’s announcement includes a number of measures that we have been calling for to encourage modal shift, including higher frequency services, priority schemes to improve efficiency and affordable, simpler fares.
“It is critical, however, that funding targets those communities which have been worst hit by cuts to services, and that transport is integrated, inclusive and accessible.”
