Bus Users backs campaign to improve access to transport for people with disabilities

The Department for Transport has launched a new campaign – It’s Everyone’s Journey – designed to “bring together those who want to improve public transport for disabled people and deliver real change.”

The campaign has been developed in partnership with industry, disability groups and disabled people. Welcoming the launch, Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users said: “Public transport has to be inclusive so that all members of the public can travel on it.

“All scheduled buses and coaches are wheelchair accessible nowadays, but there are many more less obvious and hidden disabilities and barriers to travel. We welcome this initiative that encourages all of us to be vigilant, supportive and helpful if anyone appears to be struggling.”

Bus Users recently published a Passenger Code to highlight what people can do to improve bus journeys for themselves and other passengers.
