Bus Users UK welcomes aboard Lydia Horbury as new Director for England

Lydia Horbury will be joining the team at Bus Users UK as Director for England.

Based in Huddersfield and with a background in marketing and public relations, Lydia began her career in transportation as a Junior Project Manager with British Airways. More recently, she has held senior management and leadership positions in the education sector.

Commenting on the appointment, Lydia said: “I am honoured to join Bus Users UK as Director for England. Public transport plays a vital role in our communities, and I am dedicated to working tirelessly to advocate for the needs and concerns of passengers across the country. I look forward to collaborating with our partners, stakeholders and the team at Bus Users UK to make a positive impact on these lifeline services.”

Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK said: “Lydia brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Bus Users UK and will play a lead role in the delivery of our mission: to make transport inclusive and accessible to everyone. We look forward to welcoming her to the post.”

As Director for England, Lydia will be spearheading campaigns, overseeing complaints services, working with transport providers, NGOs and central and local government and playing a crucial role in helping to improve access to transport.

Lydia officially takes up the post on 23 October 2023.
